AUGUST IS NATIONAL WELLNESS MONTH and encourages us all to develop healthier habits, think about our self-care and develop a healthier lifestyle to help us survive and thrive in an increasingly hectic and fast-paced world. It's so easy to neglect our wellbeing as we juggle work, family, and other obligations. So, it's the perfect time to focus on taking care of yourself – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Making time for self-care has been proven to improve your happiness and help to manage stress whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Research has shown self-care can increase an individual's happiness by up to 71% when we manage our stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Whether you challenge yourself to a new yoga pose, enjoy a different spa treatment or set aside time to read a book in your garden – weather  permitting! It's often the small changes which can impact your health in positive ways. For example, you could introduce the following ideas into your everyday lifestyle until they are embedded as new habits.

  • Add more fruit and veg to your meals.

  • Increase your water intake.

  • Join a yoga, walking or aerobics class.

  • Learn to meditate/practice mindfulness. 

  • Monitor your sleep and make adjustments for better sleep habits and make sure your pillow/s offer the correct support for a good night's rest.
