Coming Soon! “Activ Physio Kids” - Our New Clinic For Young Sports Players
From the end of this month, Activ Physio Kids will be a new clinic service to help your sporty, injured child receive the right treatment (and exercise, rehabilitation and recovery plan) to enable them to return to whatever sport they play.
I have recently passed the key components of the accredited and certificated youth athletes management course, 'Assessment To Return To Play In Youth Athletes' and am recognised as a Kids Back 2 Sport practitioner to treat and enable young athletes to safely return to sport. Activ is also very proud to be recognised as a specialist clinic for the treatment and rehabilitation of youth athletes.
This is a huge growth area with the increasingly professional approach to youth athletes, from academy football (and other field sports) players, gymnasts, swimmers and any other sports players in need of proper physiotherapy assessments and follow up treatment.
Less is being 'left to chance' and amateur input. More emphasis is increasingly being placed upon the specialised preparation the young, athletic sportsperson requires to participate in the high volume (and meet the high standards) of competitions. This preparation and rehabilitation of youths, during their growing and developmental years, differs greatly from that of full-grown adult athletes as they have different anatomies and injuries.
My passion to help young athletes reach their sporting potential is partially borne from my own love of playing sports (and also from working as a sports rehabilitation professional), and from my two sons' experience of playing high level youth football competitions with both the Schools' FA and academy level professional football clubs.
ACTIV PHYSIO KIDS - WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES?
To be able to screen for more serious pathology.
To be able to assess the capacity of the younger active child.
To be able to create appropriate assessment and treatment plans.
To know when an athlete is ready and confident to return to sport/play activity.
To be able to educate the parent and child on the impact of poor nutrition, sleep, workload management and stress on injury rate and performance.
The assessment and treatment protocol is something we are looking to be able to offer at the clinic from the end of 2023. We share the desire of the author/course leader to deliver the highest standard of therapeutic care and, wherever possible, to reduce the future likelihood of injury (and subsequent impact on sports careers) of young athletes.
NB Rob will be discussing specific youth sports injuries in future newsletters. If your child has a specific sports injury or issue you would like checked out, please email us at admin@activphysiotherapy.co.uk.
